Shelby Dye

Associate

Shelby earned her B.S. in Environmental Science from Baylor University, with a minor in Earth Science and a concentration in Environmental Chemistry. She was a member of the Baylor University Honors Program and represented Baylor’s Environmental Science Department at the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, where she studied international environmental policy and the fiscal considerations underlying international environmental law.

Shelby earned her J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Gonzaga Journal of International Law and President of the Gonzaga Environmental Law Society. During law school, she worked as a research assistant, focusing on environmental, water, property, and international law.

Before joining the firm, Shelby served as a judicial extern for Judge John Cafferty of the Kootenai County District Court in Idaho, where she conducted legal research and assisted with matters involving both civil and criminal law. She also worked with state agencies in Oklahoma and Washington on environmental matters involving both administrative enforcement and adjudication.

Shelby’s practice focuses on state and federal litigation and administrative proceedings involving environmental matters. Her scientific background and legal experience allows her to approach environmental disputes with an understanding of both the regulatory framework and the underlying technical issues.
